'Children first'

Radar’s new publication ‘Children first’, which was published in October, has already received excellent feedback.

AT, assistant director of Mind, says “I think it is excellent, and it is great that it includes the summaries of proposed government reforms. Information is concise and easily read - especially in the ‘Benefits’ section. The ‘Preparing for the Future’ section a very good idea. It’s a really friendly publication”.

AP, a nurse practitioner from Derby, has said “I have found this book the most valuable resource that any nurse practitioner could have to hand, indeed, my midwife and my health visitor have also purchased copies for themselves. The health visitor, as a team leader, also has one for her team. Its potential to assist not only health professionals but parents alike is invaluable, and it should be used as a learning tool in social work, nursing, health visiting, and midwife teaching at university”.

JP, who works for Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council Children's Services, says “this will be a useful tool in our information library for staff and parents/carers. It is easy to find the information and has clarified some questions [our staff] have had. It is also well presented”.

“‘Children first’ is an easy and enjoyable read. I found it extremely useful that all the different charities, companies and organisations that I can contact for information or support are listed in a clear manner. It is very useful to have the contact details of various companies, which families who come into our centre may require. It has allowed us to come together and implement ways in which we can cater to the needs of all children and their families who use our service”. MK, South London Family Support Centre
